what is the difference between intercompany accounting and intercompany trade?

I don't believe you need the Inter-company accounting setup at all to use Inter-company trade.
Inter-company trade causes a Sales order in one company to do something to a Purchase order in another company, from creation to packing slip to invoice, but everything that happens in the trade module is within that company's ledger.
Inter-company accounting occurs within Ledger journals when you have a voucher that includes an amount in another company. The system must post an inter-company debit and credit in the source and target ledgers in order to balance the vouchers in each company when this happens. I've never seen this effect occur within inter-company trade.
Hello Ahmed,
In a nutshell, you need to setup the Dynamics AX intercompany accounts in GL first before you can process intercompany trading scenarios such as intercompany purchase order and intercompany sales orders.
Please note that the intercompany accounts that you setup in GL are not only use for intercompany trade scenarios but also for other, non-trade related intercompany transactions such as e.g. intercompany allocations and other intercompany postings.
Hope it helps,
Ludwig
