WIP balance is the same as the value we'd like to capitalise. However, this error appears upon validation. What I have found is that an earlier committed purchase order has been cancelled. Not sure if this is affecting the capitalisation and if so, how can it be fixed. Any guidance is appreciated.
Hi there! Good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are :) Hope you are well today!
The error "Total WIP + Received committed cost amount is less than acquisition amount" typically occurs in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations when there is a mismatch between the WIP balance and the acquisition amount during validation. This issue can indeed be influenced by a canceled committed purchase order. Here's how you can address it:
1. Understand the Error
The system calculates the acquisition amount based on the Total WIP and Received committed cost. If the sum of these values is less than the acquisition amount, the validation fails.
A canceled committed purchase order can affect the Received committed cost, leading to this discrepancy.
2. Reconcile the Canceled Purchase Order
Review the canceled purchase order and ensure that its impact on the Received committed cost is correctly reflected in the system.
If the cancellation created discrepancies in the WIP balance, use an Adjustment Journal to correct the WIP account.
3. Validate WIP and Committed Costs
Check the WIP balance and Received committed cost for the affected project or asset. Ensure that these values align with the acquisition amount.
Use the Project Management and Accounting module to review the transactions and identify any inconsistencies.
4. Adjust Acquisition Amount
If the acquisition amount is incorrect, you may need to adjust it to match the actual WIP balance and committed costs. This can be done through the Asset module or by posting an adjustment entry.
5. Test the Validation
After making the necessary adjustments, revalidate the transaction to ensure that the error is resolved.
