I explain my problem through an example. I have 3 subassembly levels with level 1 at the top. What I'm trying to do is matchup the serial numbers during assembly. When putting together 3 serial numbered items into the level 2 item (2 items have the same part number but different serial numbers), I need the assemblers to identify what level 3 serial numbers they are putting into the level 2 serial number. Then during the final assembly at level one, I need to have the level 2 serial numbers matched to the level 1 serial numbers they are going into.
I have a need for traceability from the top serialized item to the lower levels where I need to identify all of the serial numbers that are in the top level item. The reverse is also true, I need to take a level 3 serial number and find what level 1 item it is in.
I have not found a way of doing this in AX, based on what I can see, it only puts a group of serial numbers at one level into a group of serial numbers at the next level without any identification of what serial numbered items are going into an upper level serialized item. What I'm asking for is very basic serial number management and traceability, which I would think exists in AX but I can find it.
Does anyone know if there is any way in AX to match the lower level serial numbers to the upper level serial numbered items they are going into?
Thanks, Jerry
