Supported way to show child opportunities on parent account?

(0) ShareShare

Hello,

Our organization has primarily parent-child relationships when it comes to accounts. It is important for us to be able to see ALL opportunities under a parent, including child opportunities.

It appears back in 2020 there was a way to toggle on/off "related records" on the OOTB Account > opportunities view, but this seems to have been deprecated (?).

We want to see Child 1, Child 2, Child 3 oppos on the Parent Account record in a subgrid.

I have searched the forums and can't find any more recent responses to this question. Does anyone have a suggestion which would allow us to display child opportunities on the parent record along with parent opportunities? Preferably without using reports as MS has been threatening to deprecate those for some time and we don't want to end up in the same boat.

Thanks,

Mark

    Hello,

Account and Opportunity are Related, so in Account entity we can show Opportunity as a Related Record.

If you want to Show Child record of Opportunity, then you can show only in the Opportunity Child Record Not in Account.

If you want to Show that, then you need to create a lookup field in the CHILD OPPORTUNITY to view the same

    Hi Ramprakash,

    Thank you for your reply.

To clarify, I don't want to see the child records of opportunities -- I want to see the opportunities of child accounts on their parent account.

Would adding a lookup field on the opportunity form itself to bring in the parent account of a given account allow a subgrid containing child opportunities to be built at the account level?

Could you provide some detail as to how such a subgrid should be constructed?

    Thank you.

    Hi Mark J. Wilson,

It seems that you want to show the opportunities related to child accounts in parent account. Unfortunately, there is no OOTB way to do this because there is no filter like parent's account equals some value. As a workaround, you could create a html web resource to do this. In the web resource, you need some code to get opportunities related to child account.

    Hello,

Unfortunately in Out-of-the-Box way we cannot achieve this.

If you want to achieve this, you need to create Account Field in the Child Opportunities then you can view the same in Account with Child Opportunity.

If you are doing the Above mentioned point, you can use Mapping between Opportunity Account and Child Opportunity Account, so that while Creating Child Opportunity from Parent Account Field Automatically gets Mapped.

    Steps to Create Mapping

    1. Open your Application

    2. Click Gear Icon at the Top --> Select Advance Settings

    3. Click Customization --> Select Customize the System

    4. Expand Entities --> Select --> Opportunity --> Select 1:M relationship

    5. Open the Relationship between Opportunity and Child Opportunity

    6. Click Mappings

    7. Select Respective Account Mapping in both Sides

    That's it :)
