Save as option in NAV 2013

ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello Team,

I am new to NAV2013 and would like to ask as is there any option so that while saving the report as pdf,excel...it should give the field/property name from report/page

As per my view, its taking the name as Sales Order, Sales Quote and so for different report documents when I try to save those documents.

I have the access to developer license so please let me know if anyone can provide the suggestion.

Thanks and have a nice day ahead.

Rishi

When you push from report "Save as..." (Excel, Word, PDF), you can fill your own file name (system start exporting and then ask you file name and location). NAV recommend report name, but you can use your own. I cannot find problem on report saving.

    HI Aleksandar,

Thanks for reply but I am not having any problem with exporting the document....but what my concern is suppose when you create Customer report, Sales Order report ...one  window opens where you can see all the details and further NAV gives the option of saving the documents as excel, pdf, word but it asks for file name and location or else it gives a default name for example report name( Customer Details,Sales order etc..)...but my query is, Instead of asking the file name while saving, is it possible that when we save that report as pdf,excel..those documents gets the name automatically filled by customer no and customer name ( for example we are saving one customer details) and then we just need to give the location.

Hope i am clear with my query...if some more explanation is needed please let me know since this is important aspect of our system implementation.

    Many Thanks

    Hi

From the preview it is not possible to change the file name, the system gets it from the caption property on the report & this cannot be changed while the report is running

If however you create and run the report from code, so from a button on the form, you can use the Report.SAVEASPDF option, this will allow you to specify the filename,

This method will not allow the user to preview the report though, it will run in the background

Search for SAVEASPDF in the CSide help to see how it works

    Cheers

    Hi Nev,

Thanks for the useful information, but even with SAVEASPDF option...we need to specify the name and location which will be static

There is no such way that the file get automatically renamed with customer no, customer name when we click on Save as option or use SAVEASPDF  in Customer page for the selected Customer line..Since Customer no,Customer Name will be different for each line and then after just i need to mention the location.

    Thanks

    Hi

You can do the following to run a report to a specific location on the drive containing the customer number for example

This will get a specific sale based on the SO number, and PDF it to the harddrive in a filename based on the customer number

Is this what you were after?

    Cheers

    Hello Nev,

Yes, Thats great Nev......Many thanks for your reply

Just one query based on above codeunit, can we have

SalesRec.Get(" Order No."); which will fetch the sales Order Number from the selected link in sales order page and do others steps as you mentioned above.

    Thank you

    Yep that will work

    On the sales order page the order (document) number is called "No." so SalesRec.Get("No.");
