Can we clean up old packages in "Software deployable package files" to speed up 'Maintain > Apply Updates' screen load?

Hello,

After 5+ years in LCS, we have a lot of Software Deployable Packages.

When I go to 'Maintain > Apply Updates' to an environment it takes the page minutes to load.

Can I safely export the older Software Deployable Packages out of the Asset Library then delete the originals on LCS to speed up the Apply Updates pages?

Thanks again for your time reading this and any advice or experiences you can share.

I have the same question (0)

Hi Jim, Microsoft purges the assets that are older than one year. Apply update dialog generally takes sometime before loading. I have seen 1-2 minutes of processing time to load Apply Updates for few customers. However, if you are experiencing say 5-10 minutes delay then it's issue.

I haven't tried deleting packages from Asset Library so not sure if it's will give desired output.

Interesting. Thanks for the post Mohit. I can see packages going back to 2017 in our Software Deployable Package list.  It shows there are 232 entries in the list.

    Hi Jim,

You can clean up the assets if you don't need them. It will gain a bit of performance, but there might be other factors as well. If you think you will not use packages from 2021 and before, delete them. You should have all historical details checked-in in DevOps anyway.
