Attachments on Enterprise Portal

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi People,

I am trying to setup the Enterprise Portal for our AX2012R2.

My AX is deployed on two servers. Server 1 and Server 2.

According to my Document Handling parameters, my attachments are supposed to be saved in the c:\ of Server 2. But for EP, my attachments are getting saved in c:\ of Server 1.

I am not sure how this is happening. So when i go and have a look at an Expense Report, it shows all the attachments correctly but when i go in AX and look at the expense reports and the respective attachments, it gives me an error.

Has anyone faced this before? Do you know how i can change the directory for EP attachments to also go to c:\ of Server 2.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks ~ Nidhi :)

Changing the path in the Document Types Archive Directory did the trick. Thank you so much. :) ~ Nidhi

Hi Dhillon, Yes i know that Archive Directory is company Specific. I have specified the UNC in Company 1 and am creating an expense report for the same company on EP.

I have changed the Archive Directory in the Document Types form as well now.

    Thanks ~ Nidhi :)

Hi Sree, When you say 'Document Store', do you mean 'Archive Directory'?

    Hi,

Archive directory is company specific. So, make sure it is set for the company you are using in EP. set your Archive folder UNC path in Document Management parameters form and also check if any archive directory is setup for File type in Document Types form.

    Thanks,

As a last step, could you please stop Server 1 and try to see if it saves in UNC Path on Server2. Restart IIS, AOS  would also be better..

Also i hope you already configured this in Ax.

    1. Navigate to Organizational administration | Setup | Document management |

    Document management parameters.

    2. Please confirm that Document store is not empty and is correct.

The document store is written and read from by the AX Service

account and the users that write and read documents in this

folder. The folder must therefore be a UNC/network path and

the users and service account  will require read, write, list, and

    modify permissions on this folder.

    Thanks,

Sorry about the confusion. That was just a sample path.

The exact path was : \\Server2\AX Document Directory

    Still didnt work :|

    Thanks ~ Nidhi :)

Usually the UNC path would be a shared folder with read\write permissions. was your path just a sample ?. it  should have been

    \\ServerName\SharedFolder\FolderName

    Hi Narayan,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have tried setting a UNC for saving documents as \\Server2\\C:\\AXDocumentsLibrary but it doesnt work. The EP documents still go to Server 1.

Also, I have 'Expense Reports' checked under all the Documents categories under Documents in EP Parameters.

    But it still doesnt work.

    Thanks ~ Nidhi :)

    HI Nidhi,

In this case of multiple AOSes , you may have to set a UNC path .This must be set up in Org administration > Document management parameters >document types (archive directory)

    Refer here technet.microsoft.com/.../dd309650.aspx

Document archives can be stored on the local AOS if only one AOS is used. For AOS clusters, document archives must be stored in a directory that uses a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path.

Also check document types setup in EP parameters. And the directory setup for the document type.

Check if the set up is done appropriately and try if the issue is solved.

    regards

    Narayan
