Marketing e-mails are (sometimes) recognised by receiving mail servers as being newsletters. An 'own' unsubscribe link is then displayed in some cases (e.g. on an iPhone I know) that is shown directly at the top of the screen. Called 'List unsubscribe'. This allows someone to unsubscribe without doing so via the formal route of a Subscription Centre page (which in our case is always in the footer of marketing emails).
Two things stand out here:
in the header of a marketing e-mail we see that both a commercial e-mail and a transactional e-mail contain an unsubscribe link
Given the nature of the mail, we do not expect an unsubscribe link in the header in case of a transactional mail. How can we ensure that this does not happen?
As an example, see attachment 644 - Transactional.msg. This is the email of this marketing email in DEV. In Word, the header of this email. It contains an unsubscribe link that looks like the link below:
f156d1.svc.dynamics.com/.../iZpjz2Qn
2. the actual unsubscribe link in the mail header gives an error message
As an attachment, I have attached commercial e-mail Stay in touch_Stay in touch.eml. If you view the header of that (e.g. via File>Properties in Outlook or Show original in Gmail), you will see the header there, which I also added in a separate Word attachment. The unsubscribe link in there looks like the link below:
f156d1.svc.dynamics.com/.../j2noW2Zb
Both of the links give an error and are not working
Question 1: can this be set so that it is always identical to the functionally correct unsubscribe link included in the footer (and therefore always working)?
Question 2: if this is not possible, is it possible to show a text instead of this ugly error message (e.g. Do you want to unsubscribe? Indicate your preference via the link at the bottom of the mail')
