Hi All,

We have a custom security role created in the AOT (Application Object Tree) with all its related duties and privileges defined there as well. We now want to modify this role using the front-end interface. Will this modification have any impact, or is it safe to modify it this way?

Since the custom role was originally created in the AOT, is it mandatory that all modifications also be done in the AOT? Modifying in the AOT would necessitate deployments, which we would like to avoid for the time being.

Please advice.

Hi Akbar,

It is possible to change the custom security role via the user interface configuration option. It will be a runtime extension only. It will not change the role in the AOT itself.

Usually, I don't recommend changing security objects that are created in the AOT. Instead you can create a duplicate using the Security Configuration utility and then apply changes. But as mentioned, it is possible. You can also consider moving the configured changes to the AOT with specific releases (apply in AOT and remove from configuration). All role changes will be visible as audit trail on the security role.

How we can make the custom roles obsolete, we know that we can directly delete the roles, but it will cause the auditing issue.

Please advice.
