Importing global choice label fields from an external excel spreadsheet

While the process of importing data into a table seems to be a straight forward process, how do you import data into a global choice's label fields?

I'm referring to Global Choice Columns, not a Choice Field in a Table that may be linked to a Global Choice Column.

Global choice columns were formerly referred to as option sets and are sometimes called picklists. They enable you to include dropdown lists of fixed values to a user within your app to ensure data consistency. Accordingly in Power Apps, (Global) Choices are handled distinctly from Tables, although of course Fields that are configured as Data Type Choice Fields can be linked to a global choice column.

An easy way would be to download a data import template for the environment that would relate to global choices, but their doesn't seem to be a template for a custom global choice column.

I haven't tested this out yet, but it appears to provide a solution to this challenge. I also was unfamiliar with the XRM Toolbox which is a great find.

    Hi TedB,

In the XRM Toolbox, there is a utility 'CreateOptionSetsFromCSV' to facilitate similar problems. For more details: linnzawwin.blogspot.com/.../create-optionset-from-csv.html

Hi Abdul - I don't think I was clear enough in the original writeup to my question, so I edited it above. I'm talking about Global Choice Columns that are shared across an environment, not the Choice Columns in a Table (although those Choice Columns my be linked to a Global Choice Column of course.) Thanks however for giving it a try. TedB

Hi Haig - I think you are talking about choice columns, not global choice columns which used to be called option sets. I guess I wasn't clear enough in my original question, so I've edited and added to it above. But I appreciate you reaching out.

    Hi TedB,

You can import multi-select field values and choice columns to existing records, but you can’t import them for new records.
The workaround is to import your new records without the multi-select/choice values, and then do a second import to add the multi-select/choice values.

    Hi TedB,

How about handling it using Power Automate? For more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJaKEK3tJdU&ab_channel=MicrosoftPowerPlatform. A long time ago I was able to import new options in the choice column while creating dummy records into the table but right now I am wondering about the feature still exists or not.
