Good Afternoon,

How can I remove an additional sort field in a lookup?

A client just came to me showing an employee lookup field (Item Engineering Data form--> Design Authority) where one of the additional sorts shows Social Security Number.

Fortunately, for this client, they just moved from Dynamics GP payroll to another Payroll solution so we were able to change all the employee SSN numbers to nines. Though I couldn't find a way to remove SSN as an additional sort on the Employee Lookup.

The client that brought it to my attention was on an older version of GP, but I checked the most recent version and still see the SSN information on non payroll forms.

Suggestions?

Hi Sonny

Using GP Power Tools with a trigger on window open I have changed the button drop list menu item to a separator line and prevents it from being selected.

It changes the View Button and the Additional Sort Button.

I have emailed the project to you.

We might need to do additional work to either disable Custom Sort or hide the Social Security Number and Spouse SNN fields from the custom sort.

You can not remove additional sort field functionality, but with the help of customization you can block sorting on Social Security Number. But if your client is not using GP Payroll then they shouldn't be using this sort functionality.

Using GP Power Tools, I have methods of hiding or encrypting fields on windows so the data cannot be seen.

We can also obscure the data when it is "at rest" in the tables.

To hide the option from the menus we can just use a trigger to hide or disable the menu.
