offset a/c not wanted for Fixed Asset acquisition journal

I want to use the proposed acquisition feature to acquire any assets already created but not acquired.  However, if using this method or just simple FA journal without the proposal, it requires you to have an offset account set up in the posting profiles before the journal will post.

This is effectively double counting my addition in the Trial Balance, as it is Debiting the FA cost account, and posting a Credit to my 'FA offset GL account' set up just for testing acquisitions.  This means that there is further work required to then journal out this posting as the original transaction of the asset purchase will find its way there also via a direct supplier invoice, or one matched to a PO in the register.

Does the acquisition and price have to come from the Purchase ledger automatically if I want to avoid this (as I didn't want to rely on the automatic posting as this will most likely be incorrect due to lots of variables with orders and invoices).

I was expecting to be able to 'assign' a cost value to an asset in the FA module without it posting further entries in the GL, which could then be just reconciled monthly (as in dynamics NAV).

thanks

    Hi,

What I have seen people doing is posting the vendor invoice against a transfer account which is later on used as the offset account when posting the fixed asset acquisition in the FA module. This can be achieved by specifying a fixed offset account for the journal that you use for your fixed asset acquisition posting and overwrites the offset account that you might have setup in the FA posting profile.

    Hope it helps,
