Extract XPO's from .axmodel in Dynamics AX 2012

Does anyone know if it is possible to extract the XPO's from an .axmodel file? I am currently using AX2012 R2 and often come across hotfixes that describe the same issue I am experiencing but will be created for AX2012 R1 and cannot be installed in R2. I'm just looking to be able to compare the XPO's and hopefully implement a similar fix in R2.

    Hi

You have to install the Model in a Standard Env and from the menu Tool\Model Management\Create Project from Model, you can create an project with the objects involved on the FIX.

Finally, export the Project in a XPO.

What is in a model file is basically a serialized model store database, therefore there is no hidden .xpo file that you could extract.

Thanks for the confirmation guys. I'm installing RTM now, seems a bit overkill but most things with 2012 are I guess.

    Hi Dale,

    Did it work for you?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Juliano,

There's no way I know how to deserialize and preview the code in the .axmodel file, I could only view it by setting up a new enviroment for the same AX version the model was intended for.

    Hi Juliano,

that's excact the way for automatisation.

Always keep 'up to three' Dummy RTM Model Store AOS Installations (if you require R1/R2/R3) without SYP.

Import Model / Set Skip CheckList

Autostart AxClient with the following logical help actions:

    1) SynchroniseDB (sometimes required)

    2) CreateNewPublicProject FilterToSYP

    3) Export This Project to XPO

Restore RTM Dummy for next usage.

BTW: For R1/R2 this seems to be the only way to see what's really within that model. (Sometimes there are forgotten objects in the .Txt file)

    regards

    Douglas
