Purchase Price Variance

Posted on by 55

Hello-

I have been trying to clean up several of our item setup and noticed that many had a Purchase Price Variance account set up as the inventory account which we clearly don't want.  Is there a way to run a report in GP that shows when the PPV account was used?

I found some forums reference the Purchasing Analysis report but for some reason I am not seeing that information.

Thank you,

    RE: Purchase Price Variance

Purchase price variance (PPV) is the difference between the actual purchased price of an item and a standard (or baseline) purchase price of that same item. It is assumed that the product quality is the same and that the quantity of the items purchased and the speed of delivery does not impact the purchased price MyLifeTouch

    Hello Brownmed,

The Purchasing Analysis report is under Analysis under the Purchasing side. However, this report does not list the Accounts or allow a restriction for accounts. I don't think this would be useful.

I didn't see a POP Report that could be used. you could look at running a Trial Balance Report in the GL for that account and should be able to drill back that way.

From the Inventory side, the reports below you could run and see if they give what you are looking for. These are under the activity report.

    1. Stock Status Report.

    2. Historical Stock Status Report.

    3. Historical IV Trial Balance

    From the History Report Options.

    1. Distribution History

An alternative that might work better for you. You can create a Smartlist based off the distribution tables. POP10390 and POP30390. You can then filter the Smartlist based on the Account Index for your PPV account.

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you!
