We're struggling to use D365 Marketing

Hi all,

We used Salesforce and Pardot for several years, last year we moved to D365M and it has been a real struggle.

The partner we used to move us didn't know or guide us through all the differences of working of Dynamics. For example, we had to create all the leads into contacts/accounts because we couldn't email them, we struggle to report on the progress of the campaigns as we have multiple journeys for one campaign and we can't consolidate data. I can't create lead scoring as we target contacts and not leads now, so I don't know how to send the same info like all these people clicked on the link or downloaded the pdf, I can't get to send a notification to the sales team if a form is filled and put the leads under their names... all those things were so easy on Salesforce/Pardot.

We are looking to get expertise from someone that not only knows well the technical side but also can translate our business requests into Dynamics so we have a working system. But I don't know where to start.

I hope you could help me.

Thank you in advance.

Keyleen

I don't have any helpful suggestions other than to say I feel your pain. I have used other platforms that make it so easy to do what you are trying to do. D365 Marketing has so many missing features. I'm following this thread to see if any other suggestions come in.

    Hi Keyleen,

First thing will be to define the business requirements - main topics on you want the system to work.

I use intensively previous versions of Dynamics Marketing and I agree the new module it's a pain. There are many restrictions already raised with Microsoft - lead/contacts being one of them.

    For below:

" For example, we had to create all the leads into contacts/accounts because we couldn't email them, "

    - unfortunately that is a restriction in new Dynamics world - to be able to use marketing email rich features all records have to be created as contacts (or the email address as contact records)

    - still these contacts can be created as lead to keep the relationship for scoring (requiring a pair of {contact, lead} - I agree it's a pain and useless stuff (previous versions of dynamics worked with no issues for lead/account/contact emails). What's the point of lead qualification if contacts have to created for each lead on emailing purpose ... nonsense.

"we struggle to report on the progress of the campaigns as we have multiple journeys for one campaign and we can't consolidate data. "

-each campaign has its own analytics/insight - this is working - probably more details are useful to understand the issue

"I can't create lead scoring as we target contacts and not leads now, "

    - need to create pair of contacts/lead - and use the relationship for scoring and to exclude when a contact is not a lead

"so I don't know how to send the same info like all these people clicked on the link or downloaded the pdf, "

    - for click a link a segment can be created on the interaction

    learn.microsoft.com/.../segments-interaction

I can't get to send a notification to the sales team if a form is filled and put the leads under their names... all those things were so easy on Salesforce/Pardot.

    - a role/power automation can be built to change the owner for lead when the action is trigger but more details are neeeded

    thank you
