How to create wave/ work to move from one location to other location in warehouse?

Hi,

We are near launching AX and have done a check with counting all items in the warehouse. It seems that a lot of inventory is on a production location, but now needs to be on stock (bulk/ pick) locations in the same warehouse. How can we move them fast? Can a way be created to have this work done by the workers with a wave in WHS?

You can move them quickly by counting or doing inventory movement.

But why do you need it in stock? Is it because it is to be picked for sales order delivery?

Can you include your production locations at the bottom of your location directive for sales order picking? Then it will fall back on these locations if your standard picking warehouse is empty.

You can also in your replenishment routines include the production locations or create a special replenishment that includes these locations and then allocate them to your manufacturing staff or pickers/waterspiders.

    Hi,

I came incidently across this feature under locations:

you can specify what items to move and to where to move them. Then work/ wave is created.

Yes, create movement is the right way to go. You  can add that to a location directive if you need to have a directed put away.

    Are you working with LP?

In that case it's very simple as the worker only has to scan the LP. On the mobile device menu item make sure you don't have 'use existing work' checked.

On the work creation select movement.

Alternatively you can create a mobile menus item that used create by use movement by template. Then point that into a work template and check create movement.

That linked to a location directive 'inventory movement' gives you a directed put away.

Unfortunately, is says that the location is not valid. Is there any documentation on how to setup?

If it sais location is not valid I believe it does not find a location with any stock. I bet you haven't set up your location directives for replenishment or inventory movement.

Please go to location directives setup and check these types. Make some very general directives with as little limitations as possible to see if it works, and then you can close in the processes afterwards.

If you've set up your location directives and still get the error, check your location directives log under periodic and see what the system tried to do when running through the directive.

I see the location directive, it is empty. What do you mean by 'movement by template'. Where is that located?

Move by template is part of the Mobil device me menu item.

If you work on inventory movement the move by template is available.
