Missing Data System Admin Role

Hi

I'm having a really bizarre issue within AX12 where all users who have the system admin role lose their data, workers, POs all disappear however this is obviously not the case because all other users outside of sys admin can still see it. The quick fix is to log onto the aot and reboot ax12 services and it reappears. This is becoming a rather big issue due to it happening quite frequently (downtime etc)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Are you using some type of security policy or record filtering, such as XDS or Record level security?

The system administrator should bypass all security. For sure XDS could not be the culprut. I wonder about Record level permission. Were you able to verify the reply from Brandon already?

Are there any customizations in your environment which possibly could have a regression?

When I get weird behavior in AX, I try resetting the usage data and deleting the AUC files. Have you tried that?

I'm reluctant to think this due to the fact that sys admin is the only role effected, AUC files effects everyone. To disregard the usage data query I've removed a user from system admin and the data reappears! Really weird.

I've had a look at record level security and it would seem nothing has been setup, do you think this could be the issue? Yes there are multiple customizations to our environment done by a third party company, we've had a new module added on and a few other things. In addition to the issue, I can actually remove someone from system admin and their data will reappear, so its definitely exclusive to that role.

    Thanks

I've had a look at record level security and noticed nothing has been setup for it, do you think this is the issue? In addition to the original post, I can actually remove the user from sys admin and their data reappears! Thanks

    Hi Simonsaccount,

If there is nothing setup for RLS, this cannot be the cause. Do you happen to have two system administrator roles now? One original which has really all access (incl development environment) and one new to have all functionality except the development environment? Only the original system administrator role will bypass all security. A second one might be build upon all roles as subroles. Then one or more subroles can have some security policies enabled (XDS).

Can you share a screenshot with the security roles form where the system administrator role is highlighted?

Not as far as I'm aware, everything is much and such "out of box" however we've created our own roles. We only have one sys admin role, there is also a security admin role and a few security development roles. I've attached a screenshot of sys admin, plus security admin and dev admin roles. Sorry I cant be of much more assistance!

To be sure: the users which do not see all data are part of the -SYSADMIN- System administrator?

I have never faced such behavior on this role before. Is this in all your environments the same? Do you also have a vanilla AX installation where you can verify?

You can also try to install the latest AX kernels which can be found on: http://aka.ms/axbuild.

André might be right. This sounds like a issue with the components installed (I also never saw this behavior in the past). You usually experience this types of (strange) errors when your AOS and client are from different versions. Can you check this (if the version of the ax clients is the same as the AOS)?
