Dimension reporting (cost centers)

ReportReport
Posted on by 50

I have set up several cost centers in the G/L and have been posting entries using the account and cost center combinatin.  Now, when i try to run a trial balnce for the specific cost center, the report comes up enpty.  I can view the specific transactions and see the posting to the cost center, but i am unable to run a trial balance report to get the "total" posted to a specific cost center.

Should i expect to get a trial balance by cost center or do i need to set up some other parameters?

    Hi,

the trial balance report is not designed to report by financial dimensions, only ledger balances are shown. Reporting based on financial dimensions in combination with ledger accounts is done via the Financial statements. You should setup a dimension focus for costcenter and one for Ledgeraccount. Than create a row definition based on dimension focus ledger account. This row definition should include all ledger accounts. Now you should be able to create a financial statement with primary focus Cost center and secondary focus ledger. Please review the setup in the VPC with demo data and I think the finance II training material should explain more.

    Kind regards,

    Dennis

    Hi,

You can make use of dimension statement report in General Ledger -> Transactions->Dimension statement. From the parameter dialog select a Financial Dimension set that includes required dimension , period etc and press OK.  Also you can filter based on dimension.

Trial Balance report also allows to select by dimension. It also requires a financial dimension set.  Financial dimension set can be created from General Ledger->setup->financial dimension->financial dimension set. Add main account and required financial dimension for creating financial dimension set.
