Using calendar content on events (Dynamics 365)

Hey there,

We are trying to add the "add to calendar" button to our marketing emails.

We can see how to add the calendar button onto the email but are unsure on how to use the calendar content section in events - how do I add the iCal link?

Any advice would be really helpful

    Hi,

The calendar content will be populated automatically with the following content if the event is set to be streamed.

And the content can be customized with your own content.

For example, I pasted the invitation info which is copied from Teams into the content.

Please note that the Marketing Email that contains the Add to Calendar button can only be sent via Customer Journey to contacts who have registered for the event.

After receiving the email, click the button to download the .ics file.

The .ics can be opened with applications like Outlook, Google Calendar and so on.

However, as the following issue from the community of Office mentioned, the HTML format is not supported to be shown.

Outlook 2016 - ICS files fail to show HTML - Microsoft Community

So when the ics file is opened, it only shows the plain text calendar content set on the right side. I also tried Google Calendar and it behaves the same way.

If you need to display calendar content in HTML format with some links, you will need to find an application that supports this format to open the .ics file.

I tried to use the feature and the button disappears from email. Any idea?

Maybe one of 2 things why the button is not showing.

    1. You tried to include the button in a Test Send

    2. You are the Host/producer of the Event

You will need to register for your event using a different email address to test this feature properly. The add to calendar button should be added to your Event confirmation Email.

    Hope this helps
    Chris
