AX 2012 R3 CU8

When trying to Generate source mapping for an excel file source in the DIXF I get this error message:

The version of Microsoft Excel is not supported.-The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.

The sheet lookup doesn't seem to function at all either.

Now I've looked up solutions online for this.  I'm on a 64bit OS with 64bit Office 2010 installed.  I've installed the 64bit Access Drivers.  What else am I missing possibly?

The only thing I notice is all the ODBC drivers that are newer than version 12 are in the normal ODBC Administrator menu, but not in the 64bit version one (C:\Windows\SysWow64\odbcadC32.exe

Is that my problem?

If so how do I fix it?

This machine had the 2013 Preview versions of office installed, and I am noticing the ACEODBC.DLL showing is v14 I wonder if the older ones can't be installed because of those?  and those ones aren't working because that version of office was uninstalled.

    Hi Dougq,

Have a look at the next great blog from Alex Anikiev, to see if this helps you: ax2012dmfdataimport.blogspot.nl/.../dynamics-ax-2012-dixf-issues-and.html

Note that you can also save the Excel file into a txt or csv format.

I spent so many hours on this problem and there is one thing that the blog from Alex does not mention (I believe): you need to install the driver on the machine running the Server/SSIS component.

I think people are confused and keep installing the driver on the client machine...

    check this : community.dynamics.com/.../126840 and community.dynamics.com/.../119952

you need to need to install absent 64-bit Microsoft Excel Driver.

    also Updated XML file (community.dynamics.com/.../137992)

So I've installed this on the AOS server but you mention SSIS so should I also do this on the SQL server?

I had to do this on the SQL Server.  Thanks so much!

    EDIT:

So now I can map the attributes, but now when I try to run the job or preview it now says:

The version of Microsoft Excel is not supported.-Exception from HRESULT: 0xC020801C

    Did you try this

    dynamicsuser.net/.../77081.aspx

That actually gives me the error message:  Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0048021

which that site says it's supposed to solve.  So it did get rid of the error, but I Just get this new one instead.

In more general cases when you get the message " The version of Microsoft Excel is not supppoted" and you have all the drivers installed as explained before .

Our experience has shown in 2 independant cases that this error messages will also occur if you have used a 'DFS' type share for the "shared working directory" in the dataimport/export framework parameter of AX-2012.
Instead of the dfs naming,  use the normal UNC notationfor a fileshare on a server.     :  \\servername\sharename
