I downloaded the rdl file for this report and added it to a VS project. Under datasources there is a report model call dsGP10PM.rds What is a report model? I cannot find this file any where. How do I find what is in this report model so I can define it for my project?
Justin, in this case we were working with the PM Historical Aged Trial Balance. In VS I dropped the report model and created a new data source pointing at the company database. Once I did that the report built and ran just fine. Thanks for checking in on this.
Hello Richard,
It took some digging to find, but these appear to be an holdover from when these were originally designed. Any updates have been added as normal data sources, but we haven't touched the old Report Models.
I am not aware of any way you can pull this in. Even using Report Builder it just counts as a blackbox of sorts, with no edits available to it as a source. It does let you use it within Report Builder. Perhaps you can open the report in Report Builder, delete the source and point everything to the new ones. Then you should be able to pull everything into VS.
This isn't something I have had a chance to test, but its what I would start with!
Thanks!
