Filter View on Custom Entity Lookup to User

Hello,

I'm using D365 CE and have a custom entity (Boats) with a lookup to User (Captain). I'm trying to create a view that will show all Boats where the Captain is the current User or the Captain is 'Under' the current User. Basically, trying to mimic the OOB functionality of the Owner field and the 'Equals current user of their reporting hierarchy'.

Is there a way a view like this can be created?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

By setting up hierarchical security for users, it is possible to realize that higher-level users can access the records of lower-level users.
The steps are as follows.

Step 1. Create records for each of the two Users (Captain) and assign the records to them.

Step 2. Set up hierarchy security.

Click Advanced Settings -> Security -> Hierarchy Security -> Enable Hierarchy Modeling -> Save and Close

2.Click Advanced Settings -> Security -> Position -> NEW to create positions for users

Step 3. The results show that users with a higher level can access the records of lower level users.
