how to update sales order financial dimensions in line with item changes

Posted on by 59

hi

We are in the process of updating the financial dimensions AX2012 CU13 and this of course is impacting many "inflight" transactions.  We are updating dimensions (eg change one cost centre to another) on our released products and need to reflect these changes on things such as sales orders ie when invoicing the products, I would like the posting to reflect the change and pick up the new dimensions we have applied to the product.  Is there a way to systematically go through order backlog after applying changes to our released products to update the sales order line dimensions or do we need to write additional code to do this?

Many thanks

Joe

ok great - that is useful (although the sales order dimensions are not on the report - it does appear to select the correct sales orders)

    Hello Joe,

    Please click on select.

And then add the range of Cost center as shown below. The snap is of D365, but should work of Ax2012 also.

    Table :- Order Lines

    Derived Table:- Order lines

    Field:- Dimension.Cost center

Running this report will only help you identify the records with the selected cost center. No updates will be performed.

    Hi

thanks for the reply.  the report does not look familiar.  This is the order line report I have in AX 2012 CU13.  It would be helpful to identify down to cost centre level.  I still assume we would need to update them with SQL unless anyone has any other methods?

    Hello Joe,

I did some testing and it seems the "in flight" SO's  doesnt get updated with the new dimension value.

The new dimension values will be defaulted for newly created  sales orders.

However , the below report can help you identify the number of sales order lines which has the old dimension.

Open the sales order line report in the sales and marketing module

I have added a Range to include only Open orders belonging to cost center 007. (You may also consider including delivered lines.)

Once the report runs, it will have the list of sales order for which the changes need to be made.
