Does Field Service have this capability

Posted on by 5

I need to open a group booking that uses multiple resources that belong to multiple organizational units. I know group booking of multiple resources belonging to a single organizational unit is not a problem, but I am not sure if this can be done for resources working for multiple organizational units.

My project is for a not-for-profit company that utilizes time donated by doctors, medical professionals belonging to different hospitals, clinics.

My question is can Microsoft Field Service support multiple resources(medical professionals) that belong to multiple organizational units(hospitals, clinics etc)? Please advise.

looks like you are talking about requirement group scheduling: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/field-service/multi-resource-scheduling-requirement-groups

it should be possible that resources are from different organizational unit:

    1. the document does not mention all requirements should belong to same organization unit

    2. and when you add requirements to the group, you can specify the organizational unit, and they can be different

did you try and get an issue?

    Hi DeepakOTM,

Yes. We can use resource categories to distinguish different resources.

    Please refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/field-service/set-up-bookable-resources

After selecting a resource type, a lookup field will appear prompting you to choose a related record when applicable. For example, if User is selected, you will then need to select the related user record.

Organizational Unit: Select the organizational unit the resource belongs to. This can represent a team the resource belongs to, an office the resource reports to, or the location where the resource starts and ends his or her day.
