How to have the completion of a journey trigger another journey

Hi! I currently have contacts in a journey (some of them have completed it, others are still in it). I want to create a segment based journey, but also include a trigger that puts people in the new journey once they complete our previous journey.

Is this possible? If so, how would I create this trigger?

I appreciate the help!

    Hi,

I have implemented your requirement with custom triggers.

I did a test as follows:
    1. I designed two journeys with custom triggers placed at the end of the Journey and no logic written in the custom triggers.

    2. This Journey3 trigger is a custom trigger from Journey2.

    3. After testing, when Journey2 executes to the custom trigger, it directly triggers the execution of Journey3, which directly sends emails again to the group of people in the Segment in Journey2.

So you can use custom triggers to act as a connecting medium for that group of people to enter a new journey after completing the previous one.

Can you show me the properties you have for the trigger? Also, my company only has dynamics and not power platform. Does this work with only Dynamics?

    Thanks for the help!

To have the completion of one journey trigger the start of another journey in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, you can use the following approach:

    1. Add an Update Contact activity at the end of the first journey to insert a flag value into a data extension. This data extension will be used as the entry source for the second journey.
    2. Create a new journey and set the entry source to be the data extension you used in step 1. This will trigger the second journey for contacts that have the flag value set.
    3. Alternatively, you can add contacts to a campaign in Salesforce CRM at the end of the first journey, and then use that campaign as the entry source for the second journey.
    4. If immediate triggering of the second journey is not required, you can schedule it to start at a later time after the first journey completes.
    5. Another option is to use a custom journey activity that pushes the contact data to the target journey using an API entry source, though this requires more development effort.
    The key steps are:
    1. Update a data extension or CRM campaign at the end of the first journey
    2. Use that data extension or campaign as the entry source for the second journey
    3. Adjust the timing as needed (immediate or scheduled)

By following this approach, you can successfully trigger one journey upon completion of another in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
