Buy-to-order process - Sales Order Fulfillment notification/Report upon Item receipt in Warehouse

Posted on by

Hello Folks,

I'm looking for best way to notify the sales person in a buy-to-order process when the product has arrived in the warehouse and his sales order is fulfilled corresponding to that receipt.

Here is the process: sales order is created and item has no inventory currently, master planning creates a planned order and PO is confirmed and received.

How can we know that sales order has been fulfilled with that receipt, is there a report or how can we send a notification to the sales person that the order has enough inventory now and ready to be processed.

Thanks,

Ken

    Hi ..

One form that may be of use and interest to you is the 'Released sales order picking', (Stock and warehouse management > periodic >) see if this helps. If fits in with your described question,

    Regards

If you're using WMSII (Consolidated picking) or new Warehouse management in R3, there are periodic jobs you can set to run in batch to reserve inventory to sales orders as inventory becomes available (and which will release the orders for picking).

If you're not, I was trying to think of an Alert you could configure. There's nothing on the sales order we could monitor that will tell us about a receipt. You could set an Alert for any items you are currently interested in, on the Product receipt lines. But that's probably too much work since you'd have to keep changing your Alerts, depending on what items you were waiting for.

I think Martin's Release sales order picking form might be the only good answer.
