Bank statement download from Barclays.net is missing the SWIFT header section

Hi,

We are trying to setup the advance bank reconciliaiton, with the aim to import statements and use the modern bank reconcilliaton funciton to post to the sub-ledgers for customers and supplier payments. However, when we download the MT940 bank statement from Barclays.net it appears to be missing the SWIFT header section (which is the first row of the file on a normal MT940, see below). This is causing import errors because the standard MT940 format we have imported from the repository must include this as a validation check.  For now i am manually putting a new row in the bank statement text file and adding it in by just putting in the bracket ( { ) in this first row before importing, and it works.

Any suggestions to get around this manual intervention? Can we change the standard MT940 model within electronic reporting?

Thanks

    Hi Umar,

In case Barclays is deviating from the MT940 electronic reporting format, you can indeed configure your own version. You can first create a new publisher and then create your version and make some changes. You can't change the standard provided formats as they are managed by Microsoft.

Thanks for getting back to me Andre.

I have never used the publisher tool. Do you know if it is possible to use the Microsoft MT940 format as a starting point? or do i need to create the whole template from scratch?

    Thanks

    Hi Umar,

You can try to follow the steps listed on the next page to use a standard ER report and configure it to your needs: Adjust an ER format to generate a custom electronic document - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
