Web Managment Console

Posted on by 22,647

We have Microsoft Dynamics GP2018 running and we have access to the Web Client installation and it is running - no issues.

What I am trying to get operational is the Web Management Console.  We currently have about 50 sessions hung up due to user error when generating reports or login / logout errors and that application is the only way I know of to remove them.

When I click on the URL for Managment Console -->  xxxxx.xxx.local/WebManagmentConsole - directly from the IIS configuration screen I am presented with the following Web Page.

So, I am not sure what I have done wrong.  Can someone please review this and provide some direction.  We have been using the web client based on the same IIS Server since January 2020 with no issues.

Thanks in advance.

    RE: Web Managment Console

Can someone with a running Web Client - Web Management Console send me a Private message with the content of the GPCONFIGURATION..ServiceSecurity table.  I think that this might the table that is not getting created correctly when we have tried to repair the Web Client managment section.

The web client is working and the users all see and login correctly.  Web Management Console is not available.  Have a feeling it is about login to that data.

    Thanks again.

Justin, I am not confident in running the KILL function on a running server.  Based on a couple of comments found on the blog site it would appear that the fix might not work on this version of Dynamics GP.

I have found in the GPCONFIGURATION database a table SessionStatus that appear to look a lot like the ACTIVITY table.  Wondering if that might the table to TRUNCATE?

Just wondering if that might be a better choice?

Justin, thanks for the ideas, I will arrange time to work with the IT Team and get these steps tested.

I will update this post as soon as I know something.

    Hi Bill,

I believe you would have to completely reinstall Web Client to reinstall the console.

I have seen variations of this error before, and almost all required reinstalls to get whatever file back onto the system.

You could attempt a repair to see how far that gets you.

That said, if you just need to get the sessions closed for right now, you can use the steps here:

    community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-gp-web-client-kill-all-web-client-sessions

This will close ALL sessions, so it is roughly the same as restarting the server.

For the error, my first idea would be to attempt to access the console on any other workstation to avoid any loopback oddity.

If it still doesn't work you could try a reinstall.

    Good luck!

    Follow on question :

Can I uninstall the Management Console without effecting the installation of the Web Client component?

We have the client running and users are happy with the system - we dont want to mess with that part - it is only the management segments which appear to be bad.

When I launch the  URL it notes it is trying to find login.asax - I have searched the entire system for that file and it is not on the computer.   Could this be the problem?  How to resolve is the question.

Thanks again.  Hoping for some wise direction.
