CRM IFD Access Restricted for 2 Users. Receiving 404 Errors

We have recently deployed CRM2011, upgrading from 4.0, in doing so there are 2 users that cannot access our external URL set up through IFD.

Both users can access CRM using internal and external URL ONLY when on network. However, I am able to access using my credentials from their workstations off-network.

When they attempt to log in using IFD, they submit their credentials via ADFS log-in, and then receive a CRM 404 error.

I have checked all their setting in Active Directory and things look good.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

    Hi Cody,

Try to clear the cache and clear cached passwords and see if it works. Alternatively try to open internet explorer in an 'in-private' window.

    Hello Alex,

    Thank you for your response.

However, neither of the suggestions corrected our issue.

    Hi Cody,

So other items I woudl try:

--Do a browser reset by going to tools, Internet Options, Advanced, reset browser.

Have these two uses try from a different workstation using the IFD url off your network.

In the browser go to Internet Options>Security>Trusted Sites and add *.crm.dynamics.com to Sites and then add your URL also.

    Alex and Paul,

Thanks for you input, however we are still having the same issue regardless of whatever changes are made to the browser.

I feel as though this is some sort of authentication issue. I say this is I have no issue following the same steps as our problematic users are having accessing CRM; even on their own machines.

Could there possible be something in the Active Directory or an ADFS 2.0 token deal that is preventing them from accessing?

    Hi Cody,

It coudl be ADFS, but an out of the box ADFS installation would allow all users to authenticate.  Have the problematic users tried to login on a different pc?  If they can login from a different pc it would rule out a user id issue and be a pc issue.

    Alex,

I had the user attempt to log in on my workstation, which has had no issue with access whatsoever, and he still receives the 404 - File or directory not found window after submitting credentials. However, I am able to immediately relaunch the browser and log into CRM with no issue at all.

I believe we can eliminate this as being an issue limited to his browser and/or PC.

I know this is an old thread, but in case anyone comes across this in the future: We found that this issue can crop up in orgs that have been upgraded from CRM 4.0 to 2011 and which use IFD. Apparently, some users get disassociated in the CRM database from their Active Directory accounts. The fix is to open the user's record in CRM, change the domain logon to another AD user, save it, and then change it back to the initial AD user. This will re-associate the user in CRM with their Active Directory account, and should resolve this particular issue.

    Matt-

Thanks for this input. We did infact upgrade from CRM 4.0 to 2011.

I will try this and see if it works.

Have you already set the URL in trusted sites? I guess this the problem...
