General journal posted transaction not recognized by project budget

Hello Experts.

I have a general journal transaction posted successfully for a project , however surprisingly the project budget did not recognized this transaction ,i.e. got updated after these transactions were posted.

Project budget balance did not update after processing general journal adjustment , please suggest a fix.

System Ax 2012 R3. 6.3

Hi Mav,

Can you provide examples, e.g. screenshots what exactly was posted and how you found out that the budget was not updated?

Hi Mav,

Can you please clarify, what kind of adjustment you posted? And Did you post the transaction from Project accounting module or from GL module directly?

General Journal 1

Offset account Proj 1

General journal entry to debit offset account proj 1 with $500 , proj 1 is internal type.

Proj 1 posted transaction shows $500 appearing in its list.

Proj 1 budget balance should show $500 in its list but this $500 is missing in that list & hence budget is not increased by $500 which it should.

Please let me know how why the posted transaction which is seen in posted transaction of project is not showing under proj budget balance & how to fix it.

Good morning Mav,

Your R3 version is already old. I just double checked the available hotfixes for project budget related issues on LCS and found many that seem to apply to your system version.

Question: Is it possible that you upgrade to the latest R3 version or alternatively, that you go through the hotfixes available on LCS to assess which one you might have to install?

Please check below details of my versions , i think i have the latest version released on Feb 2019. Yet if you see i m missing any version please let me know the version i m missing from link below .

Also kindly share the LCS KB you think i m missing, i will then check if that KB is installed already or not.

Scenario & testing results.

Project id proj1 total project budget $1500.

1>Posted a JE in GL JBN 1 with +-ve debit of $500 for project category x . This created Projtransid1.

Effect of posting above JE.

a> Get a warning message like below.

"This transaction causes the total cost budget for category x on proj 1 to be exceeded by $500 . The amount beyond the total budget will not be added to remaining budget"

b> I can see the posted Projtransid1 & negative amt in Projtansposting table.
c> I cannot see the same Projtransid1 as above in my projbudgetreductionhistory table, i think it should show there in order to cause effect on budget.

d>Proj budget balance for category x remains unchanged , i.e. shows remaining budget for category x as $200

2>Posted a JE in GL JBN2 with -ve debit of $500 for project category x , This created Projtransid2

Effect of posting above JE.

a> I can see the posted Projtransid2 & positive amt in Projtansposting table.
b> I cannot see the same Projtransid2 as above in my projbudgetreductionhistory table also.

c>Proj budget balance for category x changes shows remaining budget for category x as -$300.

I cannot have remaining budget for category X as -$300 or total proj budget change from its orginal $1500. Please suggest a fix.

Many thanks for those details and the update on the R3 version that you operate.

Can you provide some details on your project budget and how you set this one up?

Did you use the project budget form, the project forecast form or the ledger budget to setup that one?

Can you possibly share a screenprint/details of that?
