Analytical Accounting - Adjustment Entry Window

Hi Folks

From page 108 of the AA manual;

Enter or select an existing transaction dimension in the Trx. Dimension field to
add it to the analytical account if required. You can only select transaction
dimensions whose analysis type is set as Required, Fixed, or Optional for the
account class that the distribution account is linked to.
You can also remove a transaction dimension from the scrolling window if it is
no longer needed.
The Transaction Dimension Description field displays the description of each
Transaction Dimension that is listed.

I have three Trn Dimensions on a transaction that should not be there.

Right click the line i dont have a choice to delete the row.  Press the clean button and tab off the field the value repopulates.

I have also tried to change the exiting Trn Dimension to the correct value and got the error You cannot change items.

How do i remove them?

    Thank you for the screenprints.  If you don't want any AA codes on this transaction, you have to blank out the 'alphanumeric', but you said you did and it kept coming back.  It shouldn't if there is no default code on the AA class setup.

    You cannot remove the dimension itself on the far left.  This has to be there because this dimension is linked to the AA account class that this account is linked to.   So you can't remove that, but if the 'alphanumeric' or AA code is blank, it's essentially the same thing.  It is not being used.

    Hi Cheryl

    The class shows no default codes set up.  I have codes set as optional or not allowed.  There are no mandatory codes.

    National shown in the screen shot above will let me blank that field out.  

    what i am trying to do is remove the Trn Dimension, not the alphanumeric.

    I need to remove the last three Trn Dimension fields.  I dont know how to remove them.

     Check your account class.  Do you have that value set up as a 'default' code?  Otherwise, it should allow you to leave that field blank on the AA Edit Analysis window for a current year JE.

    The JE is in the current accounting year.

    I have tried to use the blank button as well as the delete key.  As you tab off the field that NATIONAL was in NATIONAL is put back into the field.  The account is marked as optional in the Class.

    The account is linked to an Account Class where the dimension would be set to required or optional.  You wouldn't be able to right-click on a posted JE and delete the line completely.  But if it was set to 'optional', then you should be able to blank out the AA dimension code such as NATIONAL shown in your screenprint and resave it with a blank.  (Basically removing the AA code).  If the AA account class was set to required when it was posted, then you should be able to change it and select a different AA dimension code, but wouldn't be able to leave it blank.  You can only edit the AA data on Journal entries in the open GL year.   You cannot edit this data on JE's from closed historical years.   Per the error you referenced, is this a journal entry from a closed year?  You would have to reopen that GL year, edit the AA data and then reclose the year agian.

    thanks for the reply.

    I need to keep the account settings for AA.  We just want to remove 3 of the dimensions shown on the JE in the screenshot.

    As I recall the way to remove the Transaction Dimension is from the Account link.  I believe you have to remove the Dimension from the Analytic Accounting window in Administration >> Setup

    I will post when I have an opportunity to connect with my client test site - right now not available as the server is being maintenanced.
