Hi,

As of now, we are using Hours journal to record the worker timesheet for projects.

How can we record the worker timesheet for product sales.   i.e each sales person assigned with some sales and we need to track the time the worker working for that sales.

If possible to record this please explain me the process.

thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Ax-training,

There is a time and attendance module that allows you checking in on specific project tasks and report their completion once you are done with a specific task.

This feature automatically records the time on your project but there is quite some setup necessary to take this feature live.

Probably have a look at it to see whether the current way of recording project time is sufficient for you because of the additional effort needed for the setup.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

    thanks for the reply

I m not looking for projects hours journal is used to record that, but I need to record the time spend by a worker for specific sales order.

eg: for some sales worker needs to travel or needs to spend some time for it, that needs to be recorded with reference of sales order or customer.

    can it be possible?

    thanks

    Hi AX-training,

There is no specific feature for that.

What you can check out is leveraging the case management functionality. You can link a case to a sales order and then have a time tracked provided that you setup the respective service module configurations.

Yet, I am not sure whether this is what you are looking for because the time basically starts and stops when you work on that and for a business travel this might not be quite what you need.

For what purpose do you need those time recordings? To allocate costs later on? If so then you could 'abuse' a GL journal and track the time as a quantity on a statistical account that you use then for making ledger allocations.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi ludwig,

Not for any cost allocation, Just to track the working hours of the workers with respect to sales.

want to post this timesheet for all workers by a single person. As said before for projects this person is responsible for posting hours journal for all worker's working time and we take a report of it in inquiries>>transactions>>hours.

the same way we need for product sales.

    thanks

    Hi AX-training,

Personally, I think the timesheet function might be a good fit because otherwise this single person will have to chase your colleagues all the time.

As you are still on AX2012 you can alternatively think about creating something like a PowerApp that collects the data from all the workers and stores it in a central storage (e.g. Sharepoint) from where your single person could import the data.

Not sure if this is really better and less time consuming.

Would suggest that you discuss the different options mentioned here internally with your colleagues again to see what might be the best and simplest effort to achieve this time recording without creating too much of work for your people.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi AX-training,

The "best" option would be using the timesheet functionality as mentioned by Ludwig. Probably you can create a project and have an activity created per sales order. The activities could be created with help of a customization for automation. The level of detail per sales order might result in quite some more administrative work for the sales persons. If you sell complex projects, then it would be good to record the time per sales case. If you sell e.g. electronics and have 250 orders a day, it wouldn't be wise to record time spent per order.
