The system requirements for SL 2011 on SQL Server are:

SQL Server 2012 Standard or Enterprise Edition

SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition R2

SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2

The most probably is that the database maintenance screen can't run with the SQL 2005. When you try to connect to the server, the screen gonna show you an error.

since sql 2008 have issue with domain control 2008, we might got problem when install those role on 1 server.

Yes, there are some limitations when you install sql on a domain controller. But if the security is not a reason for you. The only thing that you have to check is that you cannot run SQL Server services on a domain controller under a local service account or a network service account. I think that the application role of the Dynamcis SL won't have problems with this change.

    Good luck.

When you install the SQL Server you have to set a domain account to run the SQL Server services. By example you can create a domain account calls SQLUser and configure all the services to run under this account.

Hi, already 4 months. I don't remember exactly. but anyway, now the server running those role:

    - domain controller

    - file services

    and installed sql server 2008.

if the server, I uninstall role domain controller, and join to existing local domain. do the clients can access the database?

this server will be used as:

    - database server for Dynamic SL and dynamic NAV

    - file services (file only contain office files -word, excel, powerpoint- and pdf files.

    need advice. thanks.
