Override ISV Lookup event in Var layer model in D365

Hi everyone,

Good morning.

I am using D365 latest version. I have an issue with the lookup event.

There is an extension on purchtable form and an ISV added a custom lookup for one of a field control. Now, I need to restructure that lookup in Var layer for the same control. So, when I try to use cancellable method to cancel the lookup calls to use my lookup code, it is calling both. So, is there any way to make my VAR Model lookup work and stop the ISV layer model lookup?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Verma.

You can't prevent other extensions from being executed.

Thanks for the response. Is it possible to override the lookup by using formcontrol level COC method instead of VAR Lookup event?

CoC and event handlers extend the standard method, they don't override it. If you use CoC, the ISV event handler still runs, too. Even if you would override the lookup method (=replace the actual method of the form control), the ISV event handler would still run.

    Hi Verma,

Do you have an idea how this ISV changed the default behavior? Did they add coding using COC or changed the default lookup form in properties?

If lookup is defined on control level you can hide it and add new control instead with lookup you want.

Thanks to all of you for your responses.

Andre, It is an control added by ISV through form extensions and they have used the onlookup event on the control to define the lookup.

    Ievgen,

Yes. That is my last option. But, wanted to know if there is any possibility to play with the event instead of going for another control.

    Regards,

    Verma

    Hi Verma,

It might not be the most neat solution, but I think you have to go for the option mentioned by Ievgen.
