deploying the gp 2013 r2 analysis cubes

Hi,

I need to make changes to an existing GP 2013 analysis cube installation. I'm using Visual Studio 2015 to make my changes. I was wondering how do I deploy the changes to the analysis server?

Sincerely,

Jason

    Hi Jason,

Good luck with your project.. In 15+ years of GP life I've yet to meet a customer that has deployed the Excel Analysis Cubes module..

I hope someone from Microsoft Support will be able to respond, but I doubt there will be a lot of responses..

    Maybe this can help:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../lesson-2-defining-and-deploying-a-cube

I know it's not exactly the same base, but it should be very similar.

Packt Publishing has a book about GP 2013 reporting that has a chapter describing the work with the EAC:

    subscription.packtpub.com/.../exploring-the-analysis-services-database

You may have to subscribe for a trial or buy the book to read the whole chapter.

    Hi Béat,

Thanks for the info. I went to the link you provided. Within that page is the link for deploying analysis services (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/analysis-services/multidimensional-tutorial/lesson-2-5-deploying-an-analysis-services-project?view=asallproducts-allversions) and it had instructions on how to deploy. On step 2, it mentions "In the Configuration Properties node in the left pane, click Deployment". However when I went there in my project, there is no Deployment button:

I can check with Microsoft support to see why I don't have a "Deployment" button.

    Sincerely,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

Glad it allowed you to get a little further.

Here something that might help explain the absence of the 'deployment' option:

    stackoverflow.com/.../ssis-deployment-option-missing-visual-studio-2015

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/analysis-services/tabular-models/project-properties-ssas-tabular?view=asallproducts-allversions

it looks like you need to define the solution as a "Project" and not a package in order to deploy it.

    Hi Jason,

There are some steps to modifying a cube here:

    community.dynamics.com/.../analysis-cube

They're modifying the sales cube to include the UOM, but the basic steps should be the same for any cube.   Unfortunately, GP Support does not assist with customizations of the existing cubes in Analysis Cubes.
