Production Journal Line Issue

Hi Experts,

I have finished good which contains BOM. My BOM contains both raw materials and a semi finished good ( My semi finished good also contains a BOM). So i have included that semi finished good as a item in the BOM. My question is After i refresh the released production order, the production order line update for my finished good.

But my requirement is when i am refreshing production order i need to view two lined for my finished good and my semi finished good as two separate line in released production order. So then I can view and post My SFG & FG separately in one production order .
I have the same question (1)

    Hi,

In standard Business Central, you can have SFG and FG in the same Released Production Order, but the SFG will appear as an indented line under the FG, not as a separate top-level line.

    To achieve this:
    > If you want SFG as a separate production order (not indented), you need to set the SFG item to Replenishment System = Prod. Order and Reordering Policy = Make-to-Order.
    > Then, when you refresh the production order, BC will create a linked child production order for the SFG instead of a line inside the FG’s order.
    > So, to keep both in the same order, just keep your current setup (SFG as a BOM item) and post output at the line level as required.
    > When your FG’s BOM contains an SFG as a component, refreshing the Production Order creates one Production Order with multiple production order lines, FG as the main line, and SFG as a lower-level line (indented).
    > You can post output for SFG first, then later post output for FG in the same RPO. This lets you report production step-by-step without creating separate production orders.

    Thanks

    Hi

    • Standard BC = separate production orders for FG and SFG (linked via planning).

    • Phantom BOM = flatten structure (no separate posting).

    • To post both FG & SFG separately in one production order, you’d need customization — not possible with standard features.

    Thanks

This is a standard feature of Business Central, assuming you get the setup correct.

To have a Production Order with an indented list of the Finished Good and lines for Sub-Assemblies below, BOTH the Finished Good AND the Sub-Assemblies need Replenishment System = Prod. Order AND Manufacturing Policy = Make-to-Order.

If the Manufacturing Policy is "Make-to-Stock" on either of the Finished Good OR the Sub-Assembly the system will NOT nest the production onto a single Production Order.

    No customization is required.

P.S. This answer did NOT use any AI assistance.
