NAV 2015: More consolidation companies?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

In NAV 2015, can you have more than one consolidation company in one database?

For example, companies A1, A2 and A3 are consolidated in the company C1, and B1, B2 and B3 are consolidated in the company C2? Client has two "groups" of companies in the same NAV database and wants to do a separate consolidation, by groups.

Is something like this possible and how?

Thank you in advance.

    Alexander,

I apologize for the late reply. I tried what you suggested and it seems to work. I have some problems with customizations that exists on this database but the procedure that you explained is appropriate.

Thank you so much for your help.

You define which companies to consolidate in the consolidation company setup, not in the business-unit (company) setup. Thus, you would create a consolidation company, and there define what business units (other companies) will be consolidated to that company. Then, you create a second consolidation company and there you define the other (could be actually even the same) business units (companies) to consolidate. Those companies might be in theory from another database, or even files, not only from the same database.

    Alexander,

I have read the text from the link you sent me but I do not see that here is explained the possibility of multiple, parallel, consolidation processes, on the same database. It is only explained what is a consolidation company and how to consolidate two companies.

You mentioned that you think it is posseble to set up something like this. Can you give me some more detailed explanation? On the GL account, for example, I do not see how I can enter the GL accounts from different companies (there are only fields about consolidated accounts, not consolidation company). So I do not understand how to specify which company GL accounts are entered:

    Thank you in dvance.

I think it is possible. To consolidate several companies' financial data in a consolidated company, you must enter information about the subsidiary as business units (normal companies) to be included and about how much their figures will be included.

Personally I had never done such setup, but I do not see limitations why it is not possible - just make a corresponding setup of needed business units to be included into each consolidation company.

Also, pay attention that you can import data into the consolidated company from other companies in the same database, from other Microsoft Dynamics NAV databases, or from files.
