RSAT / developer recording test steps not updating ADO

Hi

I have performed steps below to get a test case to show in RSAT and the recording plays and iterates through steps as expected, but steps that show in the ADO test case are incorrect. How do I update please?

a) create a developer recording xml in FO using Task Recorder

b) attach to ADO test case

c) add test case to test suite / plan

d) open plan in RSAT

e) Generate Test Execution and Parameter Files

f) Run test

When I check ADO, I only have 5 of 25 steps showing as Test Steps. In the XML, all steps are shown correctly.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Dan,

Please check that you have uploaded the correct recording file to azure DevOps.

    Hi Judy

could you suggest whether any of my steps I outlined above are incorrect please? Since the test case is now wrong is there a way to fix it? I have attached an XML file to the test case and the test case runs in RSAT with all of the steps expected (eg 25 steps in RSAT). The result of the test execution shows all of the steps expected. It is just the test case in ADO that is not updated - so steps shown in ADO are just 1-5, rather than 1-25... if the recording was incorrect, it would presumably fail to execute in RSAT. The MS site is very light on information about this aspect and also for editing existing scenarios. Thank you for assistance, Dan

Can anyone suggest the easiest way to edit a Task Recording so that the steps in ADO reflect the recording properly please?

Our preference is not to use LCS but to add the task recording to ADO and then import to RSAT. This works the first time but any edits or reimports of xml files are not updating test steps in ADO. Thanks

Answering my own question - the steps that appear in the test case in ADO reflect the successful steps in the automated test case. Ie if the test case executes and passes every step, the steps in ADO will include all of them. If the test case fails at the second step, only the first one (or two maybe) steps are displayed. If the absence of any written documentation, I'll assume that this is correct if slightly confusing
