How to setup the lookup field for customer contact addresses

One customer has multiple addresses, when add the new contact for this customer, it will auto select the default address, but the contact can be in different address, so far we have to manually input the address which is string for it. How can we setup the lookup field for contact address, so when add new contact for that customer, it can lookup all the address of that customer. If we are able to change it, how can we handle previous strings manually input address.

I have the same question (0)

You can create a custom entity Address where you can display the address fields and create some address records.

If you want to show multiple addresses on contact form, you can do it in the following 2 ways -

    A) Using lookup fields-You can create multiple  lookup of Address fields i.e Address1,Address2 etc. on the Contact entity. These lookup field would allow you to select records from the Address entity.

B)Using Address Subgrid on the Contact - Create a Lookup of Contact on the Address entityand a subgrid of Adress on the Contact entity. In the address subgrid you can add as many as address records in the contact.

    Hi,

When you input string in address field system automatically create record in Address entity. You can check Address entity records in advanced find. Address entity records gets created for Account and Contact.

The problem is you can not create lookup To Address entity so to create lookup of address you need to create custom entity as aditya suggested.

If you don't want to auto populate address from Account when you create Contact, You can remove field from relationship mapping by going to Settings->Customization->Customize the system->Entity->Account->1:N Relationshs->Open Account-Contact relationship->Mapping.

If we are able to change it, how can we handle previous strings manually input address.

You can create One time patch console application to fetch string values and create record in custom entity then set lookup on contact. This utility should be only for one time.
