Are you able to create locations with alpha identifies using the location setup wizard?  I would like to use A-Z for Aisle instead of 1- 26.

Regards

    Hi Chris,

You can build a Location format containing multiple details. One of the details can be named 'Aisle'. You can choose to have the length of 1 character.

When you have assigned this format to a Location profile, you can use the Location wizard. Now in the Wizard you cannot have it auto numbered with Alphabet, but you can use a workaround to specify in the 'Aisle' line to have a static text with first 'A' and specify other details. Then you can create some locations. You can then repeat the procedure with static text 'B' and so on.

You can also build a list of locations in e.g. Excel and import them. In real life scenarios this was the most used option as the customers could provide a file with the locations used in their previous system.

Andre, I came across this during a search. I have figured out how to get the Alpha prefix, my question is this...for Bin locations, we use Alpha identifiers. A sample would be Q1010101A through Q1010101D. Would you have any suggestions Sir?

    Hi David,

Not sure if it is the same as above, but if you have a source file, you can import it? An aisle or bin is just  a field to define a standard numbering which can be overridden by the user or directly via import of a source file.

Thanks Andre.  After doing some more experimenting, I feel the import may be the better way to go.

    Thank you again Sir.
