Fixed asset number is not creating from AssetGroup selection

When we click on create a new fixed asset and select a fixed asset group from the look up the number sequence for fixed asset number is not created either from Fixed asset group number sequence set up or from number sequence that is set up in Fixed asset parameters.

I have fixed asset group number sequence set up and Autonumber check box is checked on fixed asset group and number sequence is set to continuous.

I have default number sequence set in asset parameters.

What could be the possible reason for this.

Hi Siva,

Did you also enable the option to auto numbering assets on the Asset parameters? The number sequences are not setup to use a manual numbering?

Note that continuous setting is not required. It might only cause performance problems on automatic cleanup and a very small penalty on creating assets. Or you have to care about continuous asset numbers.

Autonumbering on Asset Parameters is enabled.

Yes I can uncheck continuous on numbersequence to avoid performance issues.

In the fixed asset group, did you select auto-number fixed assets?

Yes auto number fixed assets is checked on fixed asset group, still number sequence for asset Id not populated.

Can you check the number sequence if it has "Manual" check box enabled?

Is the system letting you define random fixed asset number?

I am able to enter some random number but while saving its validating with numbersequence format and if its not meeting the same format as mentioned in numbersequence its throwing error saying "Number sds does not match format AV-######." where sds is random number entered and AV-###### is numbersequence format.

It looks like that it is allowing manual entry and then validating it against the number sequence. I can't think of any other reason except the manual checkbox selected on the number sequence. You will probably need a technical help on the issue.

I I dentified the issue, Somehow modified method on AssetGroup field in AssetTable form is removed in our current VAR layer thats the reason its not picking number sequence from AssetGroup. I added the method back and now the issue has been resolved.
