Licensing for external service calls to D365 Finance & Operations

Hi All,

I have to estimate the licensing cost for one of my customer in regards to external service calls to D365 Finance to access the data using Custom data entities by leveraging Odata end point. I know we have to create an application in Azure portal and generate client ID and secret and provide that to external service for making calls to D365 by generating tokens. My question is, is there any extra licensing cost involved in relation to this. I am trying to find out the information related to this in the licensing guide, but couldn't find anything pertinent to this.

Can someone please provide this information if they know or if they have costed this before for any of there projects, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Baber.

    Hi Syed,

When we trying to integrate with D365 via Odata call, we need to configure Azure Active Directory applications to link your client id and existing user in D365 FO. You would consider this user's license only.

Thanks Mingzhour for your response. When we setup Azure AD application in D365, we just provide the client Id that is generated in Azure AD for our application. We don't link it to any existing user in D365, right ? Let say I have five .NET services that needs to access D365 in order to perform CRUD operations, do I need to have 5 team member or activity licenses or is there any separate license type for this purpose ?

Your clientid will link to D365 user in that form, and all operation will be performed under this user's permission.

Is this anywhere written in any official Microsoft docs, as we need to provide this info to customer ?

    thanks,

    Baber.

I'm afraid not, you may find the offical document on licensing per link below

    Hi Mingzhou,

Multiple applications can be configured under the same user Id from System administration -> Azure Active directory applications. Does it mean that only one user license would be enough for configuring 5 to 10 applications ?

    Thanks

    Hi Baber,

It looks so, but I would suggest to reach your sales representative during the purchase to confirm on this.
