Corrupted Smartlist Reports

Posted on by 50

I had a user with SmartList Builder rights go in and attempt to add some tables to the 'base' payables smartlist report. It did not work but rippled down to all users that rely on Smartlist  payables reports. Now I have users complaining that their favorites are gone or not working properly.

Is there a way to recover from what happened? I can only assume that the tables of SL and SLB are stored in the DYNAMICS db and restoring really can't happen. We do have back ups from before the corruption. Can we cherry pick the tables from the backup and restore them into production?

I do have calls into our partner and eOne, but figured I'd reach out here too.

Thanks

Ok, yes, the SmartList Builder reports will override the standard SmartList version of the reports.

We see this every so often when it appears the reports are missing, but only being hidden by SLB.

Happy to hear the issue is resolved and thanks for sharing the information.

    Have a great day.

Actually, the fix was easier than I thought. David from eOne replied to me and explained the situation. The user modified the default Payables Transaction Smartlist with a modified one that affected all users that had Favorites saved off the default one. From eOne...."Just open SmartList Builder, change the type to existing, and select the report that that the user modified.  (It will have an asterisk after the name).   Pull it open in the window, hit Delete, and it will remove the modified one.   The default one will automatically come back, and all the favorites will work again.   You will need to close Dynamics GP and relaunch it in order for the default list to reappear."

Along with what Joseph mentioned, those are the main tables for SmartList itself.

SmartList Builder also has a series of SLB tables that would also be held in the GP system database.

More times than not, the best way to recover SmartLists, is to restore a backup of the GP system database from a time before the event happened that caused the SmartList Favorites to be lost or corrupted.

    Thanks

    RE: Corrupted Smartlist Reports

You may want to compare these tables in your current DYNAMICS database and your backups.

ASIEXP50 and 51 are for the export templates for SmartList.

ASIEXP60 for the GoTos for each SmartList.

ASIEXP81 for the master list of all SmartLists created.

ASIEXP83 for the sorting of each SmartList.

ASIEXP86 for what columns show for each SmartList.

Restore the data of these tables in a test company and see if everything goes back to before.
