When clicking new on the item page, a new item card should be created. Although my question about the item template ...

I want to create a template for each item category code, so once the user click new Item, the item template pops up and they choose a specific item template. The following fields should be automatically filled out (based on the item template)

  • Item No. (these is a specific No. Series for every item template)
  • Item Category Code (there is a specific item category code for each item template)
  • Vendor No. (There is  specific vendor No for every item template )

Thanks in Advance,

    HI, Saf

You Can Do That but When you click New it Want Prompt you template Automatically. for that, you need to do some customization.

default is work on following way,

as you explain you will have item no. series category wise so you need to got new item pick the correct no. series and description for item need to enter manually.

then go to the Template and create a new template based on the category and select whatever the fields you need to fill by default when you select the template.

each category you need to create separate no series & template.

Which part needs to be customized ? I can see that in the Cronus template (NAV 2017), when I click on "New" a template pops up and asks which item template you want ...

    Please explain ?

    Hi A. Saf ,

There are no any customization needed for this you can do it on your own ,

    Again don't worry its simple

You can manage Item category via 2 option

    1. Item Template

    2. No Series List

    1. Item Template creation as follows

    Departments/Administration/Application Setup/General/Set Up Customer/Vendor/Item Templates

    Captddure.JPG

You can create template over here and it will be appier

    2. No Series List via creation as follows

You need to create No Series First as follows

    Captddure.JPG

Then make No series relationship :

This will make you the creation item : [Item code] can be categorize by your own

it will show you all category you have assign and when you select it ,  no sequence will start by those categories

You can create your own item templates (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn397481(v=nav.90).aspx).

You can as well fill in one Item Card manually and then SAVE it as a template (in the Actions part of the Ribbon menu).

There is already Item Category field under the Categorization section in the item template, you can define it for specific template.

    Thank you Alexander

I have created a template, and included a specific Item Category on the template. When creating a new item, I choose this specific template, and the item category is filled out automatically . Although, the attributes which are assigned to this item category are not assigned to the item !

    Any idea ?
