Active Directory and AX 2012

Hi,

Has anyone got any experience in developing within AX 2012 the ability to create a Active directory user and employee record within AX at the same time.

Things I want to do is control AD Automatically from AX

  • CREATE a new AD account from AX
  • EDIT an existing AD account automatically from AX
  • DISABLE an AD Account from AX
  • Automatically add a Guid Identification type against the employee record from AD
  • Ability to auto change mobile extensions/telephone numbers from AD and display correctly in AX
  • If an employee photograph is displayed within AX then it would display it in sharepoint

    It doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but it's technically possible, assuming that the end user has sufficient permissions in Active Directory.

    Use .NET Interop to call AD .NET API (System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory). It's what Microsoft utilize to import users from AD to AX. You can also use your favourite search engine to find additional examples of working with System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.

    Hi - we did this at one of my previous organisations.  Keep it simple, and loosely coupled is the way to go.  We just wrote any changes to AX user accounts in to a table (you could use eventing), then a separate .Net job outside of AX reads that table and makes the appropriate changes to AD.
