In V2009, you get an error if you try to post a BOM journal, where the location code on the journal has the "Bin Mandatory", "Require Receive" and "Require Shipment" options all checked. The error occurs because the posting routine doesn't set the "Bin Code" on the component lines.

The user would be happy if the component lines were issued from the default bin for the location. The system appears to assign this bin when the "Require Receive" and "Require Shipment" options are unchecked. Do you understand why it might be making this exception?
Unfortunately, there is not hotfix and this is not a 'bug'. This is only lack of functionality. In NAV2013, Microsoft leaves this functionality and created new - Assembly Orders.

Kitting is part of some localizations and it is not standard part in NAV2009. The same functionality exist as Assembly Order in NAV2013.
In NAV2009, you can post BOM Journals if Location has only Bin Mandatory marked. If you have Require Receive and Require Shipment marked, you can not post this journal, without customization.
Thanks for your quick response. Can you explain what you mean by "kit lines". What is the NAV terminology for this?
I have tested on my end, and it worked correctly.
Do you have set the Bin Code on Kit Lines?
