Hi, I'm working as a Dynamics ax Developer for nearly 7 months and continuously i'm facing issues in coding. Like logic building and much more. Sometimes i feel personally that coding isn't beneficial for me for my future career. What i'm thinking now to switch towards the Quality Assurance side or I.T. Anyone from Career consulling kindly guide me.

Thanks in Advance

You surely can move to some other work, but another approach is getting better in your current job than running from it. You mentioned quality assurance; learning techniques for designing tests, writing unit tests and so on will definitely help you to become a better developer. Then you can decide what you want to focus on.

What you need is a proper implementation project and a team at a partner or customer, and you find yourself a mentor. There is no other way to shortcut the learning process, I would say a good 3 years are required to get the hang of development and be able to touch most of the frameworks and modules that come with AX. It does indeed need a large lexical knowledge, and educational background in computer science (object oriented programming).

If you are talking about the functional side as Quality Assurance, that is not an area that I can recall being used much. You would be better off specializing in something which has a demand, like Supply chain / Inventory management. I would not recommend Financials since that again needs a specific business/accounting knowledge.

I think there may be confusion over whether you mean quality testing of code for which there is plenty of need, or implementing the Quality Module used with Purchases, inventory etc, or a general change to something like implementing ISO9000.

Programming needs a certain mindset and qualities, that don't suit all as a vocation (me for example). I you are a round peg in a square hole, then no harm in recognising it and moving on, but the grass is always greener on the other side so be sure you are making a move to something you both  can do, and want to do,  and don't  just moving away from what you do now by taking the line of least resistance.

If you think you are good at understanding business logic but not able to transform it in code, you can go for QA else go for IT.

You can refer this book on Dynamics Ax Quality : https://www.packtpub.com/product/quality-assurance-for-dynamics-ax-based-erp-solutions/9781847192912

    Wish you all the best
