Copy GP users from Production DB to Test DB

Hi

I'm setting up a new environment for GP testing. this should be identical to the live environment

Same company same users

I managed to backup both dynamics DB and the company DB and restore them to the test server

I can login in to GP and all works beautifully with SA user

My only issue that I want to copy over all users login from Production to the Test environment with the same credential.

Is there an easy way to do so without resetting their passwords

Many thanks ,

Alaa, the links below will be of assistance in completing the step you missed.

How to Move Dynamics to a New Server

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/878449/

    Copy the Logins

    https://mbs.microsoft.com/Files/customer/GP/Downloads/ServicePacks/KB878449_Capture_Logins.sql

While the user names are created in GP >> Users - they are also stored in the SQL Server Master database as SQL users.  It is this login that you need to move to the new 'environment'

I strongly recommend following the steps defined in the KB article as it goes over all the necessary steps and is a good checklist to follow.  Don't be concerned about the versions it might reference - I know I and others have been using this KB as is for many many years - it works.

As Bill mentioned, I'd highly recommend using KB 878449 because, not only does it have the Capture_Logins script that you can use to copy the login information from the 'old' SQL instance to the 'new' SQL instance, so that existing users can login to Dynamics GP on the new environment, but also has scripts and setup that needs to be done to make the new SQL instance compatible with Dynamics GP.

    Thanks
