Business Card Scanner AI Builder

Posted on by 5

Hi All

I have an issue with the Business Card reader in my Dynamics 365 Online development environment.  I have a Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Plan licence and according to the Dynamics 365 licensing guide it says that "Sales Enterprise includes the Sales Insights features: assistant, email engagement, auto capture, and business card scanning (10/user/month: pooled at tenant level)." Sales Insights is also enabled.

However when I attempt to use the Business Card Reader in my Dynamics Mobile App I get the following error:

Does anyone have any ideas as to why?

Cheers

Alan

    Hi Alan,

Regarding the details of the license, I recommend that you contact the sales team: go.microsoft.com/.../

    Hi Hao

That does help, however I am a little confused regarding the licences.

The Dynamics 365 licensing guide states that Sales Enterprise licences include Business Card scanning capacity of 10/user/month pooled at the tenant level, so not sure I understand why an organisation will need to purchase the AI Builder add-on @ $500/month to use the business card reader which is already included in their usage rights based on their Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise licence.

    Can anyone clarify this?

    Cheers

RE: Business Card Scanner AI Builder

    Hi Alan,

Business Card Scanner also requires AI Builder licensing.

AI Builder is licensed as an add-on to your Power Apps, Power Automate, or Dynamics 365 license. This means you can start your AI Builder trial after you have a Power Apps, Power Automate, or Dynamics 365 license that allows you to create a Common Data Service environment.

To enable or disable AI Builder trail, we need to do two steps.

    Step 1.

    1. Sign in to the Power Platform admin center.
    2. In the admin center, go to Environments > [select an environment] > Settings > Features.
    3. On the Features settings page, under AI Builder, enable or disable AI Builder preview models.

    Step 2.

    1. Sign in to the https://make.powerapps.com/.
    2. Select the development environment.
    3. Go to AI Builder > Build, click Start free trail.

In this way, users will be able to use Business Card reader.

Your AI Builder trial license expires after 30 days.

To continue using AI Builder, purchase AI Builder add-on capacity and allocate AI Builder capacity to your environments. You may also be able to extend the trial period. Trials can be extended a limited number of times. Extension can only occur after the trial expires.

For more information about AI Builder licensing, please refer to this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/ai-builder/administer-licensing
