change item from old to new

I have one item his inventory is not 0 meaning inventory of item card is big from 0 his unit of measure is by ton and i need it by kg so that i decid to solve the proplem to create another item with same name then transfer his transaction to new item then block old item

How i make transfer this item from old to new ?and if i make this are this will conflict with old item please reply for me

    Also FYI note: I find it's easiest to setup an item's bases uom with it's smallest possible size.

    It's alot easier to calculate up than divide down.

    ex/

    1 - LB <<base

    2000 - Ton

    Hi Ahmed

    The solution here is as you say above

    Use journals to reduce the Qty to zero

    Change the item number of the old item by modifying its number (Add a ZZ to the front so that it moves to the end of the list)

    Then create the new item and adjust the stock back into the new item

    Remember to check the cost on the line when bringing in the stock again so you don't bring it in as zero cost (Unless it is supposed to be zero)
